Safeguard your investment from disaster
Of course, you’ve already invested in a fire protection system that includes alarms, extinguishers, and fire safety protocols for your commercial facility—but is there more you can do? Fire-protective coatings slow the spread of fire, allowing time for everyone to get out safely in the event of disaster while significantly reducing damage to your structure.
The professionals at Raider Painting have more than 29 years of experience working with fire-protective and intumescent coatings on a wide variety of commercial and industrial projects. We can provide you with an additional layer of protection that helps to preserve your structure and, most importantly, helps to save lives.
What are intumescent coatings?
Intumescent, or fire-protective, coatings possess unique abilities in combatting fire. When exposed to heat, these coatings increase in volume and decrease in density. This results in a charred surface that is a poor conductor of heat and keeps the fire from spreading further.
Additionally, many intumescent coatings contain hydrates, sodium silicates, and graphite elements that release water vapor in response to heat, which produces a cooling effect that strengthens fire-retardant char.
Typical structures that require intumescent coatings include:
Second floor or higher in buildings
As with all commercial coatings, proper application is the key to the effectiveness of fire-protective coatings. Specific compatible, manufacturer-designated primers must be used, and multiple coats must be applied to achieve the proper fire rating. At Raider Painting, our extensive product knowledge and hands-on experience assures that your intumescent coating will work as intended.

At G Star Raw Retail in Beverly Hills, CA, we applied intumescent coating to the ceiling of this high-end retail store on Rodeo Drive in order to meet with city code compliance.
As this is an upscale store, appearances are important. Professionally applied fire-protective coatings are visually similar to ordinary paint at ambient temperatures, so we were able to achieve the look the client desired, while increasing safety and peace of mind.
